There an order to watch the Idolmaster franchise in? I've been meaning to check this out for sometime.

There's no strict order or timeline.
but if you want an "order"
you can start with
- The idolmaster (2011) by A1 pictures, don't bother watching the earlier OVAs or god forbid Xenoglossia first
- Continue with The Beyond the Future Movie
then we get to Cinderella Girls series
- The Idolmaster Cinderalla Girls (2015) by A1.
After that if you want to watch the male idols, go watch Side:M 2017 by A1

U:146 is a spin off of Cinderella girls, where the focus is the girls who's under 146 cm tall. There will probably more cameo's can call backs to the 2015 anime, so it's better to watch that one first. Like the Trio of New Generations that you see in the train advertisements.

I would say just start with the original idolmaster anime and see how you feel :) after that Cinderella girls or Side M would be easiest to watch next. As this one is a spin off to Cinderella girls. Since the anime adaptations are loosely based on their game counterparts you can technically jump into any and won't be lost

Probably the last animation from musical game simulator Cygames that already closed its servidor at the end of March. It was a very succesful franchise with animes, movies, ONA's, made by several studios like A-1, Gathering, Orange, Zero-G, and now closing with the proper Cygames Pictures (ref. works: Princess Connect, Manaria Friends, Blade Runner Blackout, between others not so famous titles). Its an anime for people who like "Idols" tematic.

Seriously though, why kids?! Like they are literal 9-11 years old kids. The heck! Lmao I thought they were gonna be the typical 16-20 years old teens/young adults like male idol animes. Also they have a grown ass dude (Even if he looks like a child himself) as their producer, not even a young woman, and that twin pony tails is cute, but her outfit is a bit too grown up for her age. I guess as long as they don't make the whole thing turn too pedo or sexual it won't be a problem? Still I know many freaks will enjoy watching this shit for wrong reasons lol

Animation and character designs are great, the plot kinda has some dark aspects for a kid idol show, like Arisu's parents being too busy to take care of her, and barley giving a shit about what she does as long as her grades aren't affected, and that whole scene about the company adults smoking and drinking. The fact that they all didn't want to be their producer shows that they know the idea in itself is disturbing so why still do it...?

I guess in a way it's more realistic that way which is good, but still why kids?? Reminds me of the latest trend in K-pop of debuting new groups with 13-15 aged members which isn't the exact issue, it's okay to be a child or young teen idol/actor or anything if they want it that bad, but the fact that they still make them do sexy concepts, dances, and songs at times is what irks me and there is always a horde of middle aged creeps fangirling/fanboying over them (Some old fans are okay since they just like their singing/songs or go to concerts with their kids...etc but most are creeps sadly).
